How to become a bereavement doula

We need more Catholic bereavement doulas.

Bereavement doulas typically go through a training or apprenticeship process, followed by a certification with a reputable organization (such as Haven Bereavement Doulas), to earn their credential (such as HCBD Haven-Certified Bereavement Doula).

You do not need to be a birth doula, or to have experienced a loss yourself, or to be a woman, in order to become a bereavement doula. You simply need to be willing to learn and strengthen your skills, humbly accompany people with support that can never fix their pain, and eagerly answer God’s call to serve loss families.

Are you called to this work?
