Bereavement doulas typically go through a training or apprenticeship process, followed by a certification with a reputable organization (such as Haven Bereavement Doulas<\/a>), to earn their credential (such as HCBD Haven-Certified Bereavement Doula). <\/p>\n\n\n\n You do not need to be a birth doula, or to have experienced a loss yourself, or to be a woman, in order to become a bereavement doula.
