{"id":2271,"date":"2023-11-21T04:47:45","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T04:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/catholicbereavementdoula.com\/?p=2271"},"modified":"2023-11-22T02:33:12","modified_gmt":"2023-11-22T02:33:12","slug":"how-to-write-your-own-prayer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/catholicbereavementdoula.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/21\/how-to-write-your-own-prayer\/","title":{"rendered":"How to write your own prayer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol>\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">If possible, find a time when you can carve out at least 5 minutes entirely to yourself.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Gather your supplies (a journal and pen, a computer, whatever you\u2019ll use to write).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Take three deep breaths to help your nervous system regulate.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Make the Sign of the Cross.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Ask God to help you talk to Him. He is eternally eager and available to be in conversation with you.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Start writing.<br>&#8211; Remember that prayers do not need to have many words (Matthew 6:7).\u00a0<br>&#8211; Some people find it helpful to have a prompt, so I\u2019ve included a few below, with varying degrees of directiveness. Use whatever is helpful to you.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>How do you feel about God right now? Tell Him that.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What questions do you have for God right now? Ask Him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine Jesus were to come to sit with you right now. What would happen between the two of you?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine the story of Jacob wrestling with God (Genesis 32:24-31) as it might be rewritten about you wrestling with God.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read and write a reflection on one of the following passages: <br>Isaiah 25:6a&amp;7-8b, <br>1 Thessalonians 4:13-14&amp;18, or <br>John 14:1-7.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it\u2019s difficult to talk to God right now, consider writing a prayer asking Mary or another saintly companion for their intercession.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLord, right now I\u2019m feeling _____. Help me see how You\u2019re entering into this with me. I see you ______ and I feel without you _______.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGod, I come to you without ______ and with _______.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Set this aside for at least a day. Then come back to it.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Edit, rewrite, or rephrase as you wish. Continue to ask God to help you converse with Him as you do.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"line-height:3\">Consider adding a Bible verse, a poem, or an image to your prayer.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How do you feel about God right now?
